Cancellation Policy

You are free to cancel your ApplyMantra subscription at any time. Here's exactly what that means for your access, data, and billing.

1. Overview

This Cancellation Policy ("Policy") explains the process and consequences of cancelling a paid subscription on ApplyMantra, developed and operated by Petal Apps. This Policy applies to all individual subscription plans and is designed to be compliant with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.

We believe in giving you full control over your subscription. You may cancel at any time without penalty. We do not charge cancellation fees.

This Policy should be read in conjunction with our Refund Policy, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy.

2. How to Cancel Your Subscription

You can cancel your subscription through any of the following methods:

Method 1 — Account Settings (Recommended)

  1. Log in to your ApplyMantra account.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Billing & Subscription.
  3. Click "Cancel Subscription".
  4. Confirm your cancellation in the dialogue that appears.
  5. You will receive a cancellation confirmation email within a few minutes.

Method 2 — Email Request

Send an email to support@applymantra.com with the subject line: "Cancel Subscription – [Your Registered Email]". Include your registered email address and reason for cancellation (optional). We will process your cancellation and confirm via email within 24 business hours.

Method 3 — Support Chat

Contact our support team via the in-app chat feature (available during business hours: Monday–Friday, 10 AM–6 PM IST). Our team can process your cancellation request directly.

3. When Cancellation Takes Effect

Your cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle, not immediately upon submission of the cancellation request. This means:

You will not be charged for the next billing cycle after cancellation takes effect. You will continue to have full access to your paid features until the end of your current billing period.

If you cancel on the same day as your renewal (i.e., you were just billed), please refer to our Refund Policy for any refund that may apply.

4. What Happens After Cancellation

4.1 Access to Features

After the end of your paid billing period, your account automatically transitions to the free tier. This means:

  • Premium features (such as advanced AI tailoring, unlimited resume versions, and priority job matching) will no longer be accessible.
  • Basic features available on the free plan remain accessible.
  • Your existing resumes, job application history, and profile data remain intact and accessible.
  • Any in-progress AI sessions or saved reports will be retained in read-only format.

4.2 Billing

  • No further charges will be made to your payment method after your cancellation takes effect.
  • You will receive a final billing confirmation email, along with your cancellation confirmation.
  • GST invoices for past payments remain accessible in your billing history.

4.3 Communications

We will continue to send you essential transactional emails (e.g., account security alerts). Marketing emails will be stopped. If you wish to stop all communications, you may delete your account (see Section 6).

5. Reactivating Your Subscription

You may reactivate a paid subscription at any time after cancellation. Reactivation is immediate upon completion of payment. Your previous data — including resumes, application history, and preferences — remains intact and will be fully accessible upon reactivation.

Reactivation does not restart the 7-day refund window described in our Refund Policy if you have previously used it. All other terms apply as for a new subscription.

6. Account Deletion

Cancelling your subscription is different from deleting your account. Subscription cancellation only stops future billing and downgrades your plan; your account and data remain.

To permanently delete your account and all associated data:

  1. First cancel your active subscription (if any) to avoid further charges.
  2. Contact us at support@applymantra.com with the subject line: "Account Deletion Request – [Your Registered Email]".
  3. We will confirm your identity and process the deletion request.
  4. Account deletion is irreversible. Once completed, all your data will be permanently removed (subject to legal retention obligations — see Section 7).

7. Data Handling Post-Cancellation

7.1 Subscription Cancellation (Account Retained)

When you cancel your subscription but retain your account:

  • All your data (resumes, application history, profile) remains stored and accessible.
  • Data is retained indefinitely as long as your account is active.
  • You may delete specific data (e.g., individual resumes) at any time from your account settings.

7.2 Account Deletion

When you request full account deletion:

  • Personal data (profile, resumes, application history) is deleted within 90 days of the confirmed deletion request.
  • Payment records and GST invoices are retained for 7 years as required by Indian financial regulations.
  • Anonymised, aggregated usage data (which cannot identify you) may be retained for analytics.
  • Backup copies may persist for up to 30 additional days in encrypted backup systems before being permanently purged.

This data handling is consistent with our Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

8. Special Cases

8.1 Annual Plans Cancelled Mid-Cycle

If you cancel an annual subscription before the end of the annual period, your access continues until the end of the paid year. We do not offer pro-rated refunds for unused months of an annual plan, except where required by our Refund Policy (e.g., defective service, service not delivered).

8.2 Promotional or Discounted Plans

Plans purchased under a special promotion or at a discounted rate are subject to the same cancellation terms. However, reactivation after cancellation of a promotional plan will be at the prevailing regular subscription price, not the promotional rate, unless a new promotion is available.

8.3 Subscription Pausing

We do not currently offer a subscription pause feature. If you need to temporarily stop using ApplyMantra, you may cancel your subscription and resubscribe when ready. Your data will be retained for 90 days after account deletion, or indefinitely if you retain your account without an active subscription.

8.4 Force Majeure

If ApplyMantra is required to suspend its services due to events beyond our reasonable control (including but not limited to natural disasters, government orders, or force majeure events), we will provide affected users with a pro-rated extension or refund for the affected period, consistent with applicable Indian law.

9. Consumer Rights Under Indian Law

Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, you have the right to:

  • Cancel your subscription without penalty for any reason.
  • Receive clear and transparent information about cancellation procedures before purchase.
  • Receive confirmation of cancellation promptly upon request.
  • Not be subjected to automatic renewals without prior notification and your consent.
  • File a complaint with the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission if you believe your cancellation rights have been violated.
